I really like cooking - it's a hobby, to me, but one I want to make a good go of.
I've been thinking of systematically working my way through every recipe in Darina Allen's 'Ballymaloe Cookery Course' book - adapted to be gluten free, because I am a coeliac. It's a bloody good book by the way; not only does it have good, refined, base recipes and variations on them but it has information. It doesn't just give you recipes for jugged hare and pheasants, but it will tell you how long to hang game meat, what it will smell like when it's ready, how to tell how old a rabbit is when you buy it (if it's younger, it's easier to tear its ear), why you want to make sure your venison carcass has been examined by a vet, and stuff like that.
It's only 650ish pages. I can do that. Right? Right?
